Vehicle vs Wildlife Accidents

From October 19 to November 2, three deer were hit and killed by vehicles in Bear Valley Springs.

To date in 2025, a total of 22 deer, three elk, and one bear have been killed in vehicle accidents.

In addition to the loss of wildlife, these accidents can cause significant damage to your vehicles. Protect yourselves and your property by exercising caution on our roads:

-Reduce your speed
-Scan ahead, watching both sides of the road
-When driving at night, maintain a speed that allows you to stop within the range of your headlights
-Avoid all distractions and maintain focus on the road
-If you see an animal in the road, brake firmly and stay in your lane. Swerving to avoid a crash can cause you to lose control
-When safe, use your high beams at night to increase visibility
-If you see one animal, there are likely more around

As a reminder, if you are in an accident with large wildlife in our area, please report it to the Bear Valley Police Department at 661-861-3110.
