Community Information: UPDATE on Crocker School Burglar-Arrested

Hillsborough, CA - November 4, 2025:
On September 16, 2025, at approximately 1:37 p.m., HPD officers were dispatched to Crocker School in response to a report of an unfamiliar individual on campus. School staff noticed the person, engaged him appropriately, and immediately notified school administration and law enforcement in accordance with safety procedures. The individual stated he was at the wrong school and walked away toward Ralston Avenue near Chateau Drive.

HPD officers responded to the report and worked closely with school administrators to ensure the safety of students and staff. Officers searched the surrounding area and, out of an abundance of caution, notified nearby schools. The individual had already left the vicinity and was not located during the search. In the days following the incident, investigators reviewed available information and learned that a staff member’s credit card had been used fraudulently at several businesses.

HPD Detectives conducted follow-up at several of those locations, reviewing surveillance video from the unauthorized card transactions. The individual seen at those businesses matched the security footage from Crocker School.

Through investigative work, the use of modern law enforcement technology, and coordination with partner agencies, HPD identified the suspect. On November 3, 2025, officers from the Fremont Police Department located and arrested him.

The case has been forwarded to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of criminal charges, including second-degree burglary, theft, and unlawful use of access card information. The suspect remains in custody in connection with this case and other outstanding matters in other jurisdictions.

The Hillsborough Police Department remains committed to the safety of students, school staff, and the broader community. School-related incidents are treated with the highest priority. The vigilance of school staff, combined with coordinated police response and strong inter-agency cooperation, contributed to the successful resolution of this case. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact HPD.
