Special Weather Statement until 06:00PM
Abnormally dry conditions continue over portions of western North Carolina. The combination of low relative humidity and gusty west to southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph has prompted the issuance of a Fire Danger Statement for the Central and Northern Mountains and the Piedmont. The statement is in effect until 6 pm this evening. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
