San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Honored with Five National Achievement Awards

San Bernardino County, CA — On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was recognized with five prestigious achievement awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo), honoring innovative programs that enhance public safety, strengthen community partnerships, and improve efficiency.

The NACo Achievement Awards recognizes outstanding county government programs across the nation that modernize operations and improve residents’ quality of life. The Sheriff’s Department’s award-winning initiatives reflect its ongoing commitment to excellence, innovation, and community service.

Assistant Sheriff Sam Fisk expressed pride in the department’s recognition:

“Receiving five NACo Awards is a tremendous honor that reflects the hard work, creativity, and dedication of our personnel. Each of these programs demonstrates how we continue to evolve, finding new and better ways to serve the residents of San Bernardino County.”

The Sheriff’s Department was honored to receive the Best in Category for Information Technology for our Evacuation Solution.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department leverages its Evacuation solution, a specialized suite of applications, to manage and monitor the safety of residents during emergencies ranging from floods to fires. This system was notably deployed during the 2024 Line and Bridge fires.

The solution streamlines the evacuation process, starting with a mobile application that allows deputies in the field to document outcomes of evacuation efforts with a simple click. The collected data is instantly relayed to Sheriff Incident Command staff via an interactive dashboard, which provides all participating agencies with a live, real-time view of the entire operation as events unfold.

The following Sheriff’s Department programs were also recognized:

1. Acute Incarceration Management (AIM) Program
2. Expanded Partnership with Five Keys Charter Schools
3. Teen Human-Trafficking Awareness Talk (THAT)
4. The Blue Envelope Program
5. Election Polling Place Interactive Maps

As collaborators, the Sheriff’s Department was recognized for collaborating with various departments for the following programs or incidents:

1. Line and Bridge Fire Communications
2. Countywide Automated Security Awareness
3. San Bernardino County Geolocator
4. Sheriff-Coroner Unidentified Human Remains Solution.

These initiatives span areas such as crime prevention, technology integration, inmate rehabilitation, and youth engagement — showcasing the department’s leadership in addressing complex public safety challenges with proactive solutions.

The recognition from NACo places San Bernardino County among the nation’s top counties for effective and efficient local government service.
