The Petaluma Police Department appreciates the ongoing efforts of local businesses and security partners in helping protect our community. Quick thefts from vehicles are often crimes of opportunity, and taking simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim. We encourage you to always lock your vehicle and avoid leaving valuables in plain sight. Community members and business owners/managers are also encouraged to register their security cameras with the department’s Community Camera Program. Registered cameras can help officers quickly identify and collect crucial evidence when crimes occur in neighborhoods or commercial areas. Participation is voluntary and confidential, but it greatly enhances our ability to solve and prevent crimes together.
