Attend the Dementia seminar

The City of Hoboken, in partnership with the Act Now Foundation and the Hoboken Public Library, invites residents to attend the Reducing Your Risk of Dementia seminar on Monday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Hoboken Public Library, 500 Park Ave.

The free, educational session will introduce participants to healthy lifestyle choices that can help lower the risk of developing Dementia. Topics will include the importance of diet, exercise, mental health and stimulation, socialization, and quality sleep.

Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend and learn practical ways to support brain health and overall well-being.

The program is funded by Community Development Block Grants, the Hudson County Office on Aging, the Office of Inclusion and Accessibility, and the Older Americans Act.

Attend the Veterans Day Memorial Service Tuesday; Municipal offices closed

The annual Hoboken Veterans Day Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m.

The service, hosted by Hoboken American Legion Post 107 and Hoboken Elks Lodge #74, will take place at the World War I Memorial located near the basketball courts in Elysian Park at 11th and Hudson Streets. 

Everyone is invited to attend. 

In recognition of Veterans Day, municipal offices will be closed on Tuesday, street cleaning will be suspended, and Hop shuttle service will be suspended. All other parking regulations will remain in effect.

Waste collection will occur as regularly scheduled.

Deadline extended for AIDS Memorial Ribbon submissions

The Hoboken Arts Advisory Committee has announced that the deadline to submit names for inclusion in the restored AIDS Memorial Ribbon has been extended to Monday, Nov. 17. 

Hoboken Community members can submit names of Hoboken residents who died from AIDS or AIDS-related complications for inclusion in the restored memorial, originally created by municipal employees in 1995. Submissions should be made online at https://seam.ly/3C322DZx and include the decedent’s name, photo, a brief memory or obituary, and their date of birth and date of death.

The updated memorial will be relocated to the first floor of City Hall, where it was originally unveiled, and will be accompanied by an online memorial page sharing information about each individual represented.
