Patchy dense fog has formed this morning across the southern mountains of North Carolina, and across portions of the Piedmont of the Carolinas and northeast Georgia. The fog is more widespread in the foothills and across the Piedmont north and west of Charlotte, where a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect. Much of the fog should lift by 10 AM. Use caution if traveling this morning. Take it slow, use low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of space between you and other vehicles. Allow extra time to reach your destination.
