SMPD Arrest for Assault with a Firearm 
Shooting Investigation – Arrest Made
Date/Time: Sunday, November 9, 2025, at approximately 12:35 AM
Location: 1000 Block of Black Road, Santa Maria
On Sunday, November 9, 2025, at approximately 12:35 AM, Santa Maria Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of Black Road. A witness reported that a fight had occurred at a residence in the area, during which one of the involved subjects fired several rounds toward a group of people while fleeing the scene in a silver Honda Civic.
Upon arrival, officers located several spent shell casings and determined no one was struck by the gunfire. A suspect and vehicle description was broadcast to responding units. Shortly thereafter, officers located the vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. The driver, identified as Erik Estrada, a 29-year-old resident of Santa Maria, was detained without incident.
Estrada was positively identified by a witness and subsequently arrested and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail for felony violation of Penal Code 245(a)(2) – Assault with a Firearm.
