Advisory

Public Message for Parents and Residents - PARKS

There has been an increase in damage to the protected areas in our Borough Parks caused by children riding bikes, e-bikes, and scooters. The damage has been found in Fair Haven Fields, the Nature Trails, and the Bird Sanctuary on Harding Road. Riders have been building ramps using logs and dirt, creating new paths, and damaging vegetation.

Borough Ordinance 7-43.3 clearly bans the operation of e-bikes, scooters, or similar devices on all Borough property. That includes the Fair Haven Dock, Fair Haven Fields, Nature Trails, the entire Bird Sanctuary on Harding Road and any other Borough Park. Also refer to Borough Ordinance 9-1 regarding conduct in Parks. These areas are protected and cannot be used as makeshift bike parks. All regular bicycles (not including e-bikes) are only to be ridden on marked trails.

Please talk to your children and make sure they understand these ordinances and that these locations are off limits. Continued violations will result in enforcement action and possible charges for damage to Borough property.

We want residents and children to enjoy our community, but it has to be done in a safe and respectful manner in the spaces that are shared by everyone.
