Press Release: Structure Fire with Fatalities Update 2

On November 3, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Redwood City firefighters responded to reports of an active fire at the Avenue Liquor Store on Roosevelt Avenue. Fire crews arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames and immediately began firefighting and rescue efforts.

During suppression operations, firefighters located two individuals inside the structure who were later confirmed to be deceased. The Redwood City Police Department, Redwood City Fire Department, and the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office have continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the two individuals as:

• Benigno Nuguid Pare, Age 56

• Anil Kumar Sharma, Age 25

At this time, investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire and the events leading up to the incident. It remains unknown why the individuals were inside the building when the fire began. This remains an active, joint investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
