A juvenile suspect was taken into custody on Sunday Nov. 9 at approximately 4:30 PM after Simi Valley Police Officers found him in stolen vehicle near Corriganville Park on the city’s east side.

The Simi Valley Police Department was alerted through its automated vehicle license plate reader system of the vehicle which had reportedly been taken in a carjacking in the City of Los Angeles earlier in the day. Simi Valley Officers located the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it, but it fled and continued into Corriganville Park.

The driver, a 17-year-old male resident of Los Angeles, ran from the vehicle on foot and was quickly apprehended by officers in a residential neighborhood near the park. Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division responded to the city and took custody of the teen.
