Pedestrian Motor Vehicle Crash at Route 9 Intersection Results in Fatality

On the evening of November 11, 2025, officers from the Absecon Police Department responded to a fatal pedestrian motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 9 (New Road) and California Avenue. The incident occurred at approximately 7:38 PM.
The driver involved remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Absecon Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigations Unit. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information related to the incident is urged to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at (609) 641-0667 ext. 214 and direct information to the lead traffic investigator, Ptl. Joseph Akeret.
As a result of the crash, traffic in the area was interrupted for approximately five hours.
