INCIDENT: Central Detention Center Facility-Wide Contraband Search
LOCATION: 630 E. Rialto Ave, San Bernardino
SUMMARY: On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a facility-wide search at the Central Detention Center (CDC) to identify and remove narcotics and contraband from the housing units. The operation included personnel and canine teams from the Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino County Probation Department, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
With the assistance of detection canines, staff completed comprehensive searches across multiple housing units. The coordinated effort resulted in the recovery of several contraband items, including jail-made weapons, prescription medications, manufactured tattoo paraphernalia, various narcotics, and narcotics-laced correspondence.
This operation is part of the Sheriff’s Department’s ongoing, proactive strategy to deter introduction, possession, and distribution of contraband within its detention facilities. The Department routinely conducts unannounced, large-scale searches to prevent violence, reduce overdoses, and maintain a secure and orderly environment for inmates and staff.
The strong collaboration between Sheriff’s personnel and allied agencies reflects a shared commitment to maintaining secure, well-managed detention facilities and ensuring the highest standards of safety across the county.
