Ontario Man Arrested After Early Morning Domestic Violence, Stabbing Incident.
MERIDIAN, ID –
Meridian Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of west Flower Garden Street early Sunday morning for a stabbing related to a domestic violence incident. Officers located a female victim on scene who had been stabbed multiple times and needed immediate medical care. She was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for emergency treatment and as of this time is in serious but stable condition. Witnesses reported Juan Diego Ramos LOPEZ (46) of Ontario, the victim’s estranged husband, had stabbed her multiple times. LOPEZ fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Later in the morning LOPEZ was located by the Oregon State Police near La Grande, OR where he was taken into custody without incident. An arrest warrant was issued for LOPEZ out of Ada County for aggravated battery, a felony, and after judicial proceedings he is expected to be extradited to Ada County. As the investigation continues, additional charges are expected.
Meridian Police would like to thank valley agencies who assisted with the search for LOPEZ as well as the Ontario Police Department and the Oregon State Police for their assistance.
