As the cold weather signals the close of the gardening season, we remind residents that the Shorewood Hills Garden Club will be organizing events throughout the winter and all are welcome to participate. We encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities the Club affords to connect with neighbors, enjoy a variety of informative and fun programs through the year, and support the goal of keeping our Village green and beautiful. Upcoming events:
SECOND HARVEST The Garden Club is committed to helping those who are food insecure. To this end, the Club is again supporting the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin through donations and volunteer hours. We’re hopeful the Garden Club members, and other Village residents, will join us in this effort.
 
Financial Contributions: To double(!) your donation’s impact, please consider dropping a check (made out to Second Harvest) in an envelope clearly marked, “Second Harvest Donation” in the Village Hall Drop Box by December 8, 2025. The Garden Club will submit all donations received by that date to the Channel 15 Share Your Holidays Phone-A-Thon, where they will be MATCHED by sponsors working with the Second Harvest organization.
 
Volunteer Hours: The Garden Club will provide teams of volunteers for two work sessions at the Second Harvest headquarters on Tuesday, January 6, and Wednesday, January 7, 2026. If you are interested in helping, please contact Diane Dempsey: [email protected]
 
HOLIDAY GATHERING The Garden Club’s festive and casual social activity, Holiday Gathering, will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room at The Lodge at Walnut Grove, 4200 University Ave., Building B (see map below). All are invited to attend. If you would like to learn more about the activities the Garden Club supports, please plan to join us at this December event, where you can meet and greet, and perhaps conclude that it’s time to join!
