Newark Police Help Burglary Victim Recover Stolen Puppy
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that 3rd Precinct Police Officers assisted a burglary victim in recovering her beloved pet that had been stolen on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
At approximately 12 p.m., a male suspect entered a home in the East Ward and removed a 2-month-old puppy and two jackets before fleeing.
Police observed surveillance footage depicting the suspect, identified as Jose Soto, 43, of Newark. Soto was located and arrested the following day without incident. He faces charges of burglary and theft.
Soto also provided information on the whereabouts of the stolen puppy, which Newark Police returned to its rightful owner. #newarknj #publicsafety #police #community #partnership #newjersey #cops #tips #crimestoppers
