Public Safety Update 
Yesterday evening, Duarte Public Safety and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call for a lost hiker near Spinks Canyon and Rim Road. The hiker, a 15-year-old who became lost in the area, was unable to make his way out.
Deputies were unable to reach his exact location, so our Public Safety drone team deployed a drone equipped with thermal imaging. The drone located the hiker and guided deputies and Search and Rescue to his position.
The hiker was found hypothermic and unable to walk. Search and Rescue carried him out of the canyon, and since been airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical care.
We thank all responding teams for their quick and coordinated efforts.
