Sinatra Drive is currently closed in both directions between Fifth Street and Sinatra Drive North, for milling and paving, as part of the ongoing Waterfront Reconstruction Project. Residents should anticipate potential closures along Sinatra Drive during the following days and times:
- Monday, Nov. 24 until 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 25:
- Overnight: 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m.
- Daytime: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Wednesday, Nov. 26:
- Overnight: 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m.
- Daytime: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The schedule is subject to change. Please continue to follow detour signs. Area parking lots and garages will remain accessible to northbound drivers. Hoboken Police will be on site, to assist with detours and safety.
Once paving is complete, northbound vehicular traffic will resume using the western lane of Sinatra Drive during the hours of 6 a.m. through 11:59 p.m. Northbound traffic will continue to be detoured overnight. Southbound drivers must continue to use Hudson Street or Washington Street between Fifth Street and Sinatra Drive North. The sidewalk on Sinatra Drive will remain closed to pedestrians 24/7 in the construction area.
The Waterfront Reconstruction Project (formerly known as the Sinatra Drive Seawall Rehabilitation Project) will replace the aging and eroding concrete seawall beneath portions of Sinatra Drive and Hoboken’s waterfront walkway. The project focuses on stabilizing and replacing the seawall and walkway along the eastern portion of Sinatra Drive, from the gazebo near Seventh Street to the skate park near Ninth Street, where erosion is most severe. This initiative is part of a larger effort to ensure the safety and longevity of the waterfront infrastructure.
