Fatal Traffic Collision Being Investigated by SMPD and CHP 
On Monday, November 24, 2025, at approximately 2213 hours, Santa Maria Police Department officers responded to a report of a reckless driver. Responding officers located a white Jeep driving erratically near the intersection of Blosser Road and Cook Street. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, prompting a vehicle pursuit.
In under a minute, officers terminated the pursuit near the intersection of Stowell Road and Western Avenue in the interest of public safety. The suspect vehicle continued traveling eastbound on Stowell Road at a high rate of speed, running multiple red lights. Minutes later, the vehicle caused a major collision with an uninvolved vehicle in the intersection of Bradley Road and Stowell Road.
The occupants of the uninvolved vehicle were uninjured. The adult female driver of the suspect vehicle was ejected during the collision and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The California Highway Patrol Santa Maria Office responded to investigate the fatal traffic collision.
The decedent’s identity is not being released at this time, pending identification and notification of next of kin.
