Total snow accumulations between 2 and 7 inches. Winds gusting 45 to 55 mph. * WHERE...Mecosta, Mason, Newaygo, and Oceana Counties. * WHEN...From 7 AM Wednesday to 7 PM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Visibility and road conditions may change rapidly over short distances in lake effect snow. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you in case you become stranded.
