Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Battle Sex Trafficking

Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Battle Sex Trafficking

Calaveras County Sheriff joined several local agencies by recently signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Combat Sex Trafficking and the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children. By endorsing this MOU, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting this vulnerable population and assure the public of the county's comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to investigations, prosecutions, and case management.

The agencies involved include the Calaveras Health and Human Services Agency’s Social Services Division, Behavioral Health Services Division, and Public Health Division, Calaveras County Probation Department, Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, Calaveras County Office of Education, and The Resource Connection of Calaveras and Amador Counties, which operates through its Calaveras Crisis Center and Children’s Advocacy Center.

This MOU confirms ongoing oversight and support to ensure County agencies and partnering agencies and organizations effectively collaborate to identify and serve victims of commercial sexual exploitation and children at risk of becoming exploited.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Alert law enforcement immediately if you believe you have identified someone in a trafficking situation.
  • Speak Up! Sexual exploitation and forced labor are driven by demand.
  • Start a dialogue with your kids, coworkers, and neighbors about human trafficking.
  • 1-888-373-7888 is the National Human Trafficking Hotline.  (All calls are confidential)
