ESCONDIDO, California – Police on Saturday arrested an Escondido man in connection with the death of an 11-year-old boy on East Washington Avenue.
            Hector Balderas Amador, 44, was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on a charge of felony hit and run. The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run crash has also been recovered.
            Shortly after 5 p.m. on November 26, Aiden Antonio Torres De Paz was struck by a vehicle in the roadway in front of his house. The driver then left the scene. Witness accounts indicate he went into the street to retrieve a soccer ball. Aiden was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego where he succumbed to his injuries.
            “We are grateful and appreciative for the trust and partnership our police department shares with the community, which aided in the identification and arrest of the driver in this tragic incident,” said Chief of Police Ken Plunkett.

Detenido un hombre por la muerte de un niño de 11 años en un atropello con fuga
 
ESCONDIDO, California – La policía arrestó el sábado a un hombre de Escondido en relación con la muerte de un niño de 11 años en East Washington Avenue.
Hector Balderas Amador, de 44 años, fue ingresado en el Centro de Detención de Vista acusado de atropello con fuga, un delito grave. El vehículo implicado en el atropello también ha sido recuperado.
Poco después de las 5 p.m. del 26 de noviembre, Aiden Antonio Torres De Paz fue atropellado por un vehículo en la calle frente a su casa. El conductor se dio a la fuga. Según los testigos, el niño salió a la calle a recoger una pelota de fútbol. Aiden fue trasladado al Hospital Infantil Rady en San Diego, donde falleció a consecuencia de las heridas.
“Estamos agradecidos por la confianza y la colaboración que nuestro departamento de policía comparte con la comunidad, lo que ayudó a identificar y arrestar al conductor en este trágico incidente”, declaró el jefe de policía Ken Plunkett.
