Advisory

Winter Weather Advisory until 06:00AM Monday

...CORRECTION...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations up to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze to one tenth of an inch.

* WHERE...Anchorage, Lower Matanuska Valley, and Southern Susitna Valley.

* WHEN...From noon today to 6 AM AKST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of mixed precipitation will return to Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley this afternoon and continue into the overnight hours. A mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain can all be expected at some point on Sunday as temperatures in the lower atmosphere hover near the freezing mark. Typically-colder areas such as the Big Lake-Houston-Willow corridor and protected areas around Anchorage will be the most susceptible to ice accumulation. Windy conditions out of the Matanuska Valley may keep portions of Palmer-Wasilla above freezing and out of the freezing rain threat. Untreated surfaces may already be slick from freezing rain on Saturday. Additional precipitation me exacerbate the issue.

* AFFECTED AREAS: ANCHORAGE ... LOWER MATANUSKA VALLEY ... SOUTHERN SUSITNA VALLEY

Instructions:

Slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions call 5 1 1 or visit 511.alaska.gov. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
