Colorado Fugitive Arrested After Attempted Burglary and Vehicle Pursuit

MERIDIAN, ID –
Early Monday morning Meridian Police were dispatched to the 3800 block of W Perugia St in Meridian after a resident reported a man trying to break into the side door of their garage.  Responding officers located a subject running away from the area, who got into a vehicle and drove off.  Meridian Officers attempted to stop that vehicle, which immediately fled and began driving recklessly at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour with no headlights or taillights.  Meridian Officers pursued the vehicle south into Kuna where the pursuit was discontinued due to the hazards and totality of the situation.

The Idaho State Police, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Boise Police Department, and Garden City Police Department all coordinated with Meridian Police to locate and intercept the vehicle, and it was observed making its way towards Boise and ultimately to Garden City where Boise Police Officers located the suspect vehicle near 36th and Adams.  Two subjects were observed leaving the vehicle and both were taken into custody by Garden City and Boise Police Officers.

Tyler John DIXON (28) of Colorado was identified as the vehicle driver and found to have a felony warrant for his arrest out of Colorado for failure to appear.  Additionally, he was arrested for felony counts of attempted burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm, eluding, and possession of controlled substance, and a misdemeanor count of possession of burglary tools.  Brianna Lee MAESTAS (26) of Colorado was also arrested for felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, introduction of contraband into a correctional facility, and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.  The two will be arraigned in magistrate court on December 2nd and additional charges are possible.

Meridian Police ask any residents around the 3800 block of Perugia who may have more information or may have been victims of a crime last night to call non-emergency dispatch at 208-377-6790.
