The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is proud to announce K-9 Keva, a certified scent-tracking dog assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Station, has been honored with the American Kennel Club’s “Award for Canine Excellence (ACE)” for outstanding service in the Uniformed Services K-9 Dog category.
K-9 Keva, a bloodhound, and handler Deputy Gabriel Jasso were recognized for their exceptional performance in scent-tracking operations, including locating missing persons, supporting critical search-and-rescue missions, and assisting in criminal investigations across San Bernardino County.
Sheriff Shannon Dicus praised the pair's dedication and professionalism. “Keva is an extraordinary asset to this department,” said Sheriff Dicus. “This award reflects not only the remarkable skill of our K-9 teams, but their unwavering commitment to protecting our community. We are incredibly proud of K-9 Keva and Deputy Jasso for earning such a prestigious national honor.”
The AKC’s Award for Canine Excellence recognizes dogs from across the country that demonstrate exceptional service, heroism, and devotion in their work. This year, K-9 Keva was selected from among dozens of nominees for consistent excellence in tracking operations and several lifesaving deployments over the past year.
Deputy Jasso expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting the strong bond behind the team’s success. “Every mission relies on trust,” he says. “K-9 Keva gives everything to the job, and I’m honored to see that dedication recognized at the national level.”
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office thanks the American Kennel Club for honoring the hard work of law-enforcement K-9 teams and remains committed to supporting the critical role they play in public safety.
