Winter Storm Watch until 03:00AM Sunday
...SNOW FOR THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE THIS WEEKEND... .A pattern change will bring colder temperatures and strong outflow winds extending southward starting Friday night. Forecast confidence is increasing that this pattern change, in combination with prolonged moisture, will produce accumulating heavy snow for the highways and communities of the northern panhandle, including the Klondike and Haines Highways, as well as the cities of Haines and Skagway. Forecast confidence is not high enough for warning level snowfall moving toward Juneau and the Icy Strait Corridor, though the forecast continues to be monitored and updated through the week. Cold temperatures are expected to continue to spread southward into early next week, increasing potential for a long duration snowfall event.
