Meridian Police Assist Homeland Security Investigations
MERIDIAN, ID –
At around 8:30am on 12-5-25 United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) alerted Meridian Police they were in pursuit of a vehicle near Franklin and Ten Mile. Meridian Police responded to assist and the vehicle in question continued to elude Meridian Officers a short distance before an officer was able to pin the vehicle against a curb when it made a turn near Franklin and Linder. At that time the vehicle driver and sole occupant, Jose SANCHEZ (39) was taken into custody by HSI, with assistance from Meridian Police. HSI had attempted to stop SANCHEZ because they knew him to be a person with prior criminal history who had previously been deported and was subject to a reinstated order of removal. HSI determined SANCHEZ was in possession of two fraudulent resident alien cards and a fraudulent social security card after his arrest. HSI retained custody of SANCHEZ and potential charges related to him eluding Meridian Police were routed to a prosecutor for review.
