Sheriff Clint Roach reports that on December 5, 2025, at approximately 1815 hours, Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to a personal injury accident at the intersection of Barron Lake Rd and White Street, in Howard Township, Cass County Michigan.
Investigation showed that Nicholas Rice (44 yrs old of Kalamazoo, MI) was traveling North bound on Barron Lake Rd., when his vehicle hit a patch of ice and lost control causing his vehicle to collide with another vehicle that was traveling South on Barron Lake Rd., driven by Stephen Rambeaux (61 yrs old of Niles, MI). Rambeaux was transported by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Rice was treated on scene for his injures.
Assisting agencies in this crash were Howard Township Fire and SMCAS.
The crash remains under investigation.
