Wilmington Police charge wanted man in connection with illegal marijuana sales from business:

Wilmington Police have charged a wanted man in connection with illegal marijuana sales from a business.

Beginning earlier this month, members of the Uniformed Services Division and the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division, in coordination with Delaware Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, have been conducting an investigation into illegal marijuana sales being made from a business in the 2300 block of Lancaster Avenue – the “Red Eye Smoke Shop.” On December 10 at approximately 12 p.m., investigators executed a search warrant at the business, and recovered approximately 9.57 pounds of marijuana and THC products and took 21-year-old Lateik Mitchell into custody without incident.

Mitchell, who was found to be wanted on an unrelated matter out of Ohio, has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 2 Quantity
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $12,300 cash-only bail.

The investigation also determined that Mitchell was operating the business without a business license, and police contacted Licenses and Inspections for further action.
