Press Release: Domestic Violence Homicide - Attempted Suicide Update

SUBJECT:  Domestic Violence Homicide – Attempted Suicide - Update

LOCATION:  1300 Seaport Boulevard, Redwood City

DATE/TIME: December 7, 2025, 12:02 AM

On December 7, 2025, at approximately 12:02 AM, the Redwood City Police Department received a report from security personnel regarding a suspicious vehicle in the 1300 block of Seaport Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle occupied by an adult male in the driver’s seat and an adult female in the front passenger seat. Both were unconscious and suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the head.

Officers rendered medical aid and summoned emergency medical personnel. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On December 10, 2025, he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased female has been identified as 36-year-old Redwood City resident Denise Alessan Madrigal Martinez. The male has been identified as 36-year-old Redwood City resident Armando Madrigal Barajas Jr.

The investigation has determined the pair were married and reportedly experiencing marital difficulties. Evidence indicates Armando shot and killed Denise before attempting to take his own life. He was found by first responders with a pulse and transported to a nearby hospital, but his self-inflicted wound was determined to be unsurvivable, and he never regained consciousness. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

This investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Redwood City Police Department at 650-780-7100.
