On Thursday, December 11^th, 2025, around 8:19 AM, San Leandro police officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Alice Avenue regarding a report of a stolen vehicle on the premises.  Once on scene, officers confirmed the stolen vehicle was there and developed further intelligence regarding the presence of additional vehicles believed to be stolen as well.  A perimeter was established around the residence and surveillance was initiated.   
 
Detectives from the Crime Suppression and Property Crimes Unit responded along with investigators from the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Taskforce to assist.  A search warrant was executed at the residence which resulted in the location and recovery of 7 stolen vehicles and 1 stolen trailer.  One suspect, 46-year-old Mario Tamez of San Leandro, was taken into custody for drug possession, operation of a “chop shop”, and multiple counts of possession of a stolen vehicle.
 
This case highlights the success of a collaborative effort between Patrol, CID, and a regional taskforce.
