Winter Weather Advisory until 03:00AM Friday

...SNOW FOR THE SOUTHERN PANHANDLE OVER THE WEEKEND... .A long duration snow event is possible across the southern panhandle, beginning this weekend and continuing into early next week. The heaviest snow is expected to fall over the weekend. Snow could mix with or change over to rain on Sunday, but with the amount of cold air already in place, overall confidence in that occurring is low at this point.

* WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches.

* WHERE...City and Borough of Sitka.

* WHEN...Until 3 AM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Light snow has been falling for most of the evening, but rates have picked up in the last few hours. Snow has been light and fluffy which allows the snow to accumulate quickly. Snow should diminish late tonight.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CITY AND BOROUGH OF SITKA
