El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from November 16th to November 22nd

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from November 16th to November 22nd.     
 
November 16th
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave / Central Ave:
At 2:28 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver was transported to the El Cerrito Police department for booking. After booking, the driver was released to a sober friend.
 
Petty Theft - San Pablo Ave / Conlon Ave:
At 10:02 AM, an officer reports the victim's bicycle lock was cut and his bike was stolen from the sidewalk near Home Depot about a week ago.

November 17th
Residential Burglary - 7000 Block of Tamalpais Pl:
At 7:12 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspects entered the victim’s unsecured garage and stole property.

Residential Burglary - 2600 Block of Arlington Blvd:
At 10:34 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s secured garage during the night. No property loss reported.

Theft by Deception - 700 Block of Albemarle St:
At 5:07 PM, an officer reports the suspect tricked the victim into sending them a money order.

Recovered stolen license plate – San Pablo Ave / Moeser Ln.
At 4:11 AM, officers recovered a stolen license plate and towed a vehicle.
 
November 18th
Grand Theft- 400 Block of Lexington Ave:
At 11:58 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole copper wire.

Larceny - 400 Block of Balra Dr:
At 2:42 PM, an officer reports the victim wired the suspect money believing they were investing in several businesses, but discovered the businesses were fraudulent.
 
Possession of a Loaded and Concealed Firearm / Possession of Narcotics / Possession of Burglary Tools / Drug Paraphernalia – BART Path / Manila Ave.
At 2:08 AM, officers on bicycle patrol arrested two subjects for possession of a loaded firearm, drugs, burglary tools, and drug paraphernalia.  One subject received a citation, and the other subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
 
November 19th
Grand Theft - Arlington Blvd / Madera Dr:
At 8:37 AM, an officer reports unknown suspects stole copper wire from a telephone pole.

Grand Theft - 2500 Block of Carquinez Ave:
At 11:30 PM, an officer reports the victim was scammed into sending the suspect money.

Grand Theft - 225 El Cerrito Plaza (Trader Joe’s):
At 2:30 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole property. The incident occurred sometime overnight.
 
November 20th 
Vandalism- 2200 Block of Mira Vista Dr:
At 2:49 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect damaged the victim’s fence.

Shooting into an Unoccupied Vehicle - 5800 Block of Ray St:
At 3:31 PM, an officer reports a stray bullet that was shot into the air landed on the victim’s vehicle causing damage.

Vandalism - 5400 Block of Hillside Ave:
At 3:41 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect threw a rock through the front window of the victim’s house.

Theft by Deception - 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 4:46 PM, an officer reports the victim was contacted by the suspect pretending to be law enforcement to send them money.

Organized Retail Theft / Shoplifting / Theft with Priors – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza & 6000 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 6:23 PM, officers responded to three subjects who just stole items and fled on foot.  One of the subjects was located and arrested.  The other two were not located.  The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving Under the Influence / Unlicensed Driver – 670 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 11:30 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for DUI and no license.  The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later released on a citation to a sober friend.

November 21st  
Suspicious Circumstance – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 6:11 PM, officers responded to a complaint about an unknown subject inside of a residence. The subject left the residence upon request and had left the area before officers arrived.

Burglary / Vandalism / Theft – 6600 block of Schmidt Ln.
At 9:46 PM, officers were contacted by the victim who stated property management sent a mass email to the residents of the property, regarding multiple storage lockers on the property being broken into.  The suspect(s) were captured on camera but fled the area prior to officers being contacted.

November 22nd  
Vandalism – San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd.
At 8:01 PM, an Officer reports that the suspect vandalized an AC Transit Bus stop. The suspect was detained and transported to the police department. The suspect was cited and released.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Schmidt Ln.
At 3:04 AM, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and was cited and released.
