Suspect Arrested Following Arson Incident in Telephone Alley
The Petaluma Police Department responded to a reported fire in the area of Telephone Alley involving a shopping cart that had been intentionally set ablaze. The fire spread from the shopping cart to the suspect’s encampment and threatened a nearby building.
Responding officers, along with fire personnel, quickly arrived on scene, and the fire was successfully extinguished before causing significant structural damage.
Officers conducted an investigation and identified the responsible individual at the scene. The suspect, Guy Jefferson Bridgeman ( 56, Unsheltered), sustained minor burn injuries and was treated for his injuries. Bridgeman was taken into custody and arrested for arson, in violation of California Penal Code section 451.
The Petaluma Police Department takes incidents involving fire seriously due to the significant risk they pose to public safety, surrounding properties, and first responders. We appreciate the prompt response and coordination of all involved personnel that helped bring this incident to a safe resolution.
