Please be advised that there will be ongoing construction to the existing Wizard of Oz shelters at Watkins Regional Parks, which will begin this week as part of a planned improvement project.
The work will take place in phases and proceed sequentially until demolition is complete. Following demolition, tree removal will begin, followed by concrete work in preparation for the installation of new shelters.
Once the concrete work is completed, there will be a temporary pause in construction while we await delivery of the new shelter structures. The Wizard of Oz shelters are tentatively scheduled to reopen on May 1, 2026.
