Nearly 200 Vehicles Seized in Ongoing Effort to Combat Illegal Sideshows
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) continues to identify those who organize and participate in illegal sideshows.
This year, with the assistance of the Flock Camera System, OPD investigators identified and seized 194 vehicles after they were involved in illegal sideshows. These numbers do not include vehicles towed by officers near a sideshow scene. Most vehicles were registered outside the city.
Five vehicles were recently seized after a sideshow at the Port of Oakland last month. With help from surrounding agencies, OPD located the vehicles in Oakland, Martinez, San Jose, and Vacaville. We also identified vehicles in Antioch and San Francisco connected to an unrelated sideshow and a police evasion incident.
Sideshows are illegal and dangerous. If you participate in illegal sideshows in Oakland, your vehicle can be towed and held for 30 days.
OPD will continue to hold participants accountable and protect Oakland’s streets.
