On December 18, 2025, the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit presented a case to the Randall County Grand Jury involving the death of a one-year-old child.
Following the presentation, the Randall County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging John Slater Johnson, a 30-year-old male, with Manslaughter and Tampering with Evidence.
Johnson was arrested and booked into the Randall County Detention Center without incident.
Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation and the involvement of a juvenile victim, information is limited at this time. No additional information will be released beyond what is contained in this media release.
