The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from November 30th to December 6th.
November 30th
Burglary – 10172 San Pablo Ave (Dolly’s):
At 6:20 AM, officers responded to an alarm at the business and found the front door shattered and property stolen.
Warrant Arrest – Potrero Ave / Liberty St:
At 11:00 AM, an officer arrested a suspect on a no cite Marin County traffic warrant during a traffic stop. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Vehicle Theft – IFO 829 Pomona Ave:
At 1:20 PM, an officer reports a theft of a vehicle between 2:00 AM – 10:00 AM this morning.
Driving Under the Influence/Hit and Run- 7200 Block of Stockton Ave:
At 9:31 PM, officers responded to a report of a vehicle that collided into a house. Upon arrival officers contacted the driver and determined that she was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. While investigating this incident officers discovered the driver had collided with a parked vehicle several blocks away prior to this incident. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
December 1st
Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 6300 Block of Fairmount Ave:
At 6:45 AM, Officers located a stolen vehicle to the rear of the above-mentioned location.
Arson – 6060 Central Ave (Nations):
At 8:09 AM, Officers arrested a suspect after they set a fire on the side of the business which burned the wall. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Grand Theft – 11555 San Pablo Ave (DD’s Discounts):
At 12:40 PM, the victim reports the theft of personal items were taken after being left in a cart.
Burglary – 1300 Block of Richmond St:
At 1:51 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered their residence and destroyed items.
December 2nd
Burglary – 700 Block of Richmond St:
At 1:26 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered their residence and took several items.
Vandalism – 700 Block of Colusa:
At 9:21 am, the victim reports their vehicle was vandalized.
Warrant Arrest – Liberty St and Central Ave:
At 7:16 PM, Officers placed an individual under arrest after it was discovered they had a warrant, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Shoplifting / Obstruction / Drunk in Public – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 9:44 PM, officers responded to a shoplift at the business. The subject refused officers’ commands and once detained, struggled with the officer. The subject was highly intoxicated and had stolen from the store. The subject was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and later released on a citation.
Possession of stolen property / Identity theft / probation violation / possession of drug paraphernalia / felon in possession of stun gun and pepper spray / warrant – San Pablo Ave / Lincoln Ave:
At 4:16 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. The driver and passenger were found to be in possession of stolen property, and drug paraphernalia. Both occupants were determined to be convicted felons and in possession of a stun gun and pepper spray. The driver was found to be in possession of the victims identifying information. The passenger was found to have a misdemeanor warrant.
December 3rd
Impound of a Felony Vehicle – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 11:19 AM, Officers were alerted to a felony wanted vehicle in city limits. The vehicle was impounded at the request of the originating agency.
Stolen Vehicle – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 4:23 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 10:38 PM, Officers recovered a previously stolen vehicle.
Driving Under the Influence / No License – San Pablo Ave / San Diego street:
At 1:37 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence and no license. The subject was later released on a citation.
December 4th
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11400 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 11:53 AM, Officers recovered a previously stolen vehicle.
Stolen Vehicle – Blake St & Lexington Ave:
At 10:56 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.
December 5th
Vandalism – 1504 S. 56th St:
At 7:29 AM, an officer reports a vehicle window was shattered overnight, between 8:30 PM and 7:00 AM.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Carlson Blvd:
At 3:40 PM, an officer arrested a suspect on a no cite warrant during a ped stop. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Grand Theft from Person / Unlawful Use of Access Card – 9950 San Pablo Ave (Chase):
At 4:27 PM, an officer reports the victim’s ATM card was exchanged by a suspect who was using the next ATM, while the victim was distracted by a second suspect. The suspects then withdrew funds using the stolen card.
Possess Stolen Vehicle – Kearney St / Manila Ave:
At 4:40 PM, Flock hit on a stolen vehicle entering the city. An officer located the vehicle on San Pablo Ave at Manila Ave and made a felony stop as the driver attempted to turn around on Kearney St to the rear of the police department. The driver was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detecntion Facility.
Theft - 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness):
At 7:30 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked locker and removed property.
Warrant Arrest - Ohlone Greenway/MacDonald Ave:
At 10:27 PM, an officer contacted a subject who had an outstanding warrant. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 6th
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/ Destruction of Evidence- Manila Ave/San Pablo Ave:
At 4:10 AM, an officer noticed a subject walking in front of the police station smoking a glass pipe. The officer detained the subject to place him under arrest. While under arrest the subject stepped on the glass pipe in an attempt to destroy the evidence. Officers conducted a records check and discovered the subject had a probation violation warrant for his arrest. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
