On December 18, 2025, at approximately 4:31 a.m., Fremont Police Department Officers responded to the area of Fremont Boulevard, south of Delaware Drive, for the report of a major injury collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers, Fremont Firefighters, and paramedics attempted life-saving measures before the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for further medical treatment. Unfortunately, the pedestrian later succumbed to their injuries.
The Fremont Police Traffic Unit assumed the collision investigation. Based on the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Fremont Boulevard in the number 1 lane, approaching Delaware Drive. The pedestrian was either walking or riding a bicycle eastbound across Fremont Boulevard somewhere near the south side of Delaware Drive. The front driver side of the vehicle and the pedestrian or bicyclist then collided. The intersection is controlled by a traffic light, which is functioning properly. There is a marked crosswalk across Fremont Boulevard on the south side of Delaware Drive; however, it is unknown if the pedestrian or bicyclist was in the crosswalk or further south of the intersection. The exact cause and location of the impact are still under investigation, but drug or alcohol impairment does not appear to be a factor. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, remained at the scene, and is fully cooperating with the investigation.
