Advisory

Special Weather Statement until 11:00AM

Observations across central Minnesota reveal isolated wind gusts between 40-45 mph following this morning's frontal passage. We anticipate that the persistence of the strongest gusts should be a shorter, more near term concern. However, gusts between 30-40 mph will remain possible through the afternoon as the forecast area sits within a region of strong cold air advection. In addition, instances of blowing snow have been reported across central MN as a result of fresh powder from last nights light snow event. Slick travel conditions are also possible. The strong winds are ushering in colder temperatures and will support gradually falling temperatures for the remainder of the day. Wind chills are currently double digits below zero at AXN & STC... a trend that is forecast to continue southeast as winds remain elevated today.
