APD Homicide Unit Makes Arrest in Early Morning Homicide.

***UPDATE 12/21/25***

The Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit has made an arrest in connection with the homicide of a 16-year-old juvenile that occurred in the 2600 block of Dumas Drive.

Tracy Deshaun Talley, 22, was arrested and charged with Murder in relation to this incident. Talley was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation and the age of the victim, no additional information is being released at this time.

The Amarillo Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred during the early morning hours in the 2600 block of Dumas Drive.

At approximately 12:05 a.m., Amarillo Police patrol officers were in the area of the 2600 block of Dumas Drive when they heard gunshots. Officers began searching the area and located a 16-year-old male in the Hamlet Shopping Center parking lot who had been shot.

The juvenile male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Due to the age of the victim, no identifying information will be released.

The Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident. At this time, no suspect information is available for release. This remains an ongoing investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have video evidence, including surveillance footage, doorbell cameras, dash cameras, or cell phone video from the area during the time of the incident, to submit that evidence using the APD digital evidence submission link or QR code.
