Detective Derrick McGinnis with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 27-year-old Joshua Mark Cline of Marion with felony Larceny of Chose in Action and felony Forgery of an Instrument. He was issued a secured bond of$20,000.
On December 12, Cline was called in for an interview at the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office. While speaking with Lieutenant Jesse Hicks and Captain Paul Alkire, it was determined that Cline was responsible for the incident in question and he was placed under arrest.
A subsequent search of Cline following his arrest found him to be in possession of a check that had been visibly altered and rewritten to himself.
An investigation by Det. McGinnis confirmed the check had been stolen by Cline and additional charges were filed.
