Wilmington Police have arrested a man following a vehicle collision investigation.
On August 18th at approximately 10:56 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in reference to a single vehicle collision. Three males including 38-year-old Russel Shelton were transported to the hospital in stable condition. The case was assigned to the Wilmington Police Departments Special Operations Division Traffic Unit. Through investigative measures Shelton was determined to be under the influence of drugs and speeding at the time of the collision. Warrants were obtained for his arrest.
On December 19th members of the Uniformed Services Division located Shelton and he was taken into custody without incident.
Shelton was charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic citations:
- Vehicular Assault First Degree Driving Under the Influence - Two Counts
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,010 secured bail.
