Gloucester Township Police Department Recognized for Commitment to Officer Wellness & Recovery
The Gloucester Township Police Department is proud to be recognized in New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin’s announcement of the Statewide Law Enforcement Wellness & Resiliency Grant. This statewide initiative highlights agencies that prioritize the health and well-being of law enforcement officers, civilian employees, retirees, and their families.
This recognition reflects the comprehensive and proactive wellness framework already in place at GTPD, which includes:
Multi-Agency Police Peer Support (MAPPS) — Confidential, peer-to-peer support provided in partnership with neighboring agencies
Resiliency Program Officers (RPOs) — Delivering education, early intervention, and direct access to wellness resources
Officer Wellness Committee — Leading wellness initiatives, education, and policy development
Annual Psychological Wellness Check-Ins — Yearly check-ins with a licensed police psychologist for every officer and dispatcher
Employee & Family Wellness Program — Peer support, chaplain services, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) resources
Community Resource K-9 Program — Therapy canine supporting officer wellness, crisis response, and community healing
Financial Wellness Initiatives — Financial literacy and retirement-planning resources designed to reduce stress and promote long-term stability
At GTPD, wellness is not a single program; it is a department-wide commitment that strengthens our personnel and enhances our ability to serve the community.
