Winter Storm Advisory for Sierra Madre
The National Weather Service is forecasting a winter storm, bringing the potential for periods of heavy rain and possible flooding or debris flows near burn areas. The City is monitoring storm updates from the National Weather Service and our regional partners. Residents in the following areas should anticipate minor to moderate flooding and mudflow/sediment deposition in the following areas:
Auburn Avenue, Baldwin Court, Brookside Lane, Mira Monte Avenue, Highland Oak Drive, Idlehour Lane, Mount Wilson Trail, North Michillinda Avenue, North Sunnyside Avenue, Oakdale Drive, Park View Drive, Park Vista Circle, Ranch Top Road, Riviera Drive, Santa Anita Avenue, Skycrest Drive, Skyland Drive, Skyview Drive, Stonehouse Road, Vista Avenue, and Woodland Drive.
Red Flag parking restrictions will be in place, effective 11:00 am Tuesday, December 23, 2025, including NO PARKING in the Mary’s Market parking lot. Overnight parking exceptions.
Residents in flow areas, canyons, and areas prone to flooding are advised to take all necessary precautions in advance of the storm. As a general reminder, the following are some helpful emergency preparedness tips:
- Sign up for emergency alerts through Nixle (https://nixle.com/register/) and Genasys Emergency Communications (https://genasys.com/)
- Review evacuation routes and have a plan ready for your family and pets.
- Assemble an emergency kit with food, water, medications, flashlight, batteries, and key documents.
- Clear drains, gutters, and storm grates to help prevent localized flooding.
- Check your vehicle’s condition and keep the gas tank at least half-full.
- Use sandbags or barriers if your property is vulnerable to flooding or debris flows.
