Storm Advisory Update

Evacuation Warning for Sierra Madre foothill and canyon areas near recent burn scars, effective Tuesday, 12/23 at 11:00 AM due to possible mud or debris flows from forecasted storms. GET SET for potential evacuations. Gather family, pets, medications, and essential supplies. Those needing extra time to evacuate should consider leaving now. 

Residents in flow areas, canyons, and areas prone to flooding are advised to take all necessary precautions in advance of the storm. As a general reminder, the following are some helpful emergency preparedness tips:

• Sign up for emergency alerts through Nixle (https://nixle.com/register/) and Genasys Emergency Communications (https://genasys.com/)
• Review evacuation routes and have a plan ready for your family and pets.
• Assemble an emergency kit with food, water, medications, flashlight, batteries, and key documents.
• Clear drains, gutters, and storm grates to help prevent localized flooding.
• Check your vehicle’s condition and keep the gas tank at least half-full.
• Use sandbags or barriers if your property is vulnerable to flooding or debris flows.

Sand will be available for self-service sandbagging at the north end of Sierra Vista Park, behind the dog park located at 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. Bags will be provided, but please bring your own shovel to fill them. Please DO NOT enter the City Yard.
