On December 25th, 2025 at approximately 6:05 am, the Cranford Police Department responded to 2 locations on reports of attempted residential burglaries - on the 100 block of Cranford Avenue and the 300 block of Elizabeth Avenue. In both circumstances, the houses were occupied and barking dogs scared off the perpetrators.
As high-end vehicles remain targeted by thieves during these incidents, residents are encouraged to be vigilant in locking not only their vehicles but also ensuring that their homes are secured during overnight hours. Please continue to remove keyfobs from your vehicles when they are parked. Also, check that your security cameras are operational.
Car thieves enter and exit the Township quickly and have shown little regard for safety when fleeing. There has been a recent influx in these burglaries in neighboring communities.
