Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal assault incident that occurred on December 24th at approximately 6:03 p.m., in the 200 block of North Lincoln Street.
Police located a 68-year-old female assault victim, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to her injuries.
Police located 50-year-old Dario Griner inside the victim’s residence and was taken into custody without incident.
The case was assigned to Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation Detective Wilkers was able to determine Griner as the suspect in the fatal assault incident.
Griner was charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited
- Murder (First Degree)
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $563,000 cash-only bail.
