WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM FRIDAY TO 1 PM SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8
inches expected, locally 9 inches possible.
* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.
* WHEN...From 4 PM Friday to 1 PM Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on hazardous road conditions with snow covered
roads overnight Friday into Saturday afternoon.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Light snow develops after 4pm, becoming a steady light to moderate snow after 10pm. Snowfall rates of 1/2" per hr likely at times, with brief 1"/hr possible, overnight Friday into Saturday afternoon. This will result in visibilities reduced down to 1/4 mile at times and snow covered roads. Snow ending mid to late Saturday afternoon.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be aware of No Parking - Snow Emergency streets near your home. Remove all vehicles along Snow Emergency streets to avoid summons and vehicle impound. Please consider parking any other vehicles in private driveways to reduce the possibilities of being involved in accidents and to assist the DPW with snow plowing and salting operations.
Make basic preparations early tomorrow. Consider removing inflatable decorations by tomorrow afternoon.
Avoid travel during the strom. If you must drive, slow down and use caution while traveling. Avoid hills and if streets are coned off, do not pass. Check local news outlets for storm updates and the latest road conditions.
Be prepared for snow covered roads and sidewalks. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be snow/icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
