Blizzard Warning in Effect - Unalaska

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for the Eastern Aleutians, including Unalaska, Akutan, and Nikolski, from noon today through 5:00 PM AKST Saturday.

Expected conditions:

Snow accumulations of 1 to 10 inches
Wind gusts up to 70 mph
Visibility reduced to ¼ mile or less due to blowing snow

Impacts:

Travel will be very difficult to hazardous
Whiteout conditions possible, especially at higher elevations
Blowing snow may continue even after snowfall tapers

Instructions:

Avoid travel if possible. If travel is necessary, carry a winter survival kit. If you become stranded, remain with your vehicle.
